GO (CA)→ Tony winner Bernadette Peters swaps coasts for a one-night-only concert that is part of Michael Feinstein's Summer Songbook Series with the Pasadena Pops. Following Peters on July 13 will be a concert of classic film tunes sung by Tony winner Christine Ebersole and Tony nominee Ron Raines, with Feinstein conducting. LAST CHANCE→ Ann, Holland Taylor's critically acclaimed show about the feisty former Governor of Texas, Ann Richards, ends its run on Broadway. LAST CHANCE→ After a 30-year absence from Broadway, Bette Midler returns to the stage as the late Sue Mengers, the legendary superagent who ruled much of Hollywood during the 1960s, 70s and early 80s. I'll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers checks in with Mengers after a series of devastating professional blows — chief among them being fired by Barbra Streisand. Directed by Joe Mantello. OPENING→ Choir Boy, Tarell Alvin McCraney's play with music about the gospel choir at the Charles R. Drew Prep School for Boys, opens Off-Broadway. Jeremy Pope, Nicholas L. Ashe, Kyle Beltran, Grantham Coleman, Tony winner Chuck Cooper, Austin Pendleton and Wallace Smith star in the new work that follows a choir in a prep school dedicated to the creation of strong, ethical black men. LAST CHANCE→ Tom Hanks makes his Broadway debut as Pulitzer Prize-winning, New York City tabloid journalist Mike McAlary in Lucky Guy. In this Tony-nominated play — Nora Ephron's last — Hanks plays the late McAlary, who ruled NYC tabloids in the ’80s with a mighty pen and a gruff attitude. Also starring Courtney B. WATCH→ PBS celebrates America's 237th birthday with its annual "A Capitol Fourth" special. The July 4th program will feature live performances from outside the US Capitol by some of Broadway's best, including the cast of Motown: The Musical, Barry Manilow, Megan Hilty, Darren Criss and the National Symphony Orchestra.
