Classic Arts News The XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition Names Winners Across 6 Categories Watch the two winners' galas from Moscow and Saint Petersburg on Medici TV June 28–29.

The International Tchaikovsky Competition named the winners across six categories. Gold medals went to the following musicians: in the piano category, 22-year-old Alexandre Kantorow from France; in the violin category, 30-year-old Sergey Dogadin from Russia; in the cello category, 20-year-old Zlatomir Fung from the USA; for male voice, 30-year-old Georgios Alexandros Stavrakakis from Greece; for female voice, 21-year-old Maria Barakova from Russia; in the woodwinds category, 25-year-old flautist Matvey Demin from Russia; in the brass category, 19-year-old French Horn player Zeng Yun from China.

The two winners' galas will be streamed by Medici.TV from Moscow and Saint Petersburg on June 28 to 29. The Mariinsky Orchestra led by Valery Gergiev will perform at both events. In addition, all the winning performances will be available on the Medici platform, which reports that the competition saw over 15.4 million views coming from 190 countries.

The competition one of the most anticipated events in the classical music world, takes place every four years and has been called the Olympics for musicians.
