News   "Theater Talk" to Celebrate Boys in the Band June 26
"Theater Talk," the PBS talk show that offers interviews with top theatre practitioners, will celebrate Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band June 26.

The 1 AM ET broadcast on WNET/Thirteen will feature playwright Crowley, actor Laurence Luckinbill and Michael Musto of The Village Voice, who will "discuss the inspiration behind and the influence of Crowley's landmark 1967 drama on the LGBT rights movement of today," according to press notes.

CUNY-TV will air encore broadcasts June 27 at 8:30 PM, June 28 at 12 noon and June 29 at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM and 7:30 PM.

The Boys in the Band, according to press notes for the film version, "follows a group of gay male friends as they come together in a New York City apartment for a birthday party. When an unexpected guest arrives and the truth begins to flow as freely as the cocktails, it leads to a sometimes vulgar but ultimately open and honest dissection of their lives and relationships."

Transport Group Theatre Company will stage an Off-Broadway revival of The Boys in the Band in October.

"Theater Talk" is hosted by New York Post theatre columnist Michael Riedel and producer Susan Haskins. For more information visit www.theatertalk.org. *

Playbill Radio broadcasts an audio version of "Theater Talk" every Saturday at 7 PM, Monday at 11 PM and Tuesday at 2 PM.
