News Theatre Communications Group to Honor Kenny Leon at 50th Anniversary Gala Tony Award-nominated director Kenny Leon (Stick Fly, The Mountaintop), Playwrights Horizons board chairman Judith O. Rubin and the Shubert Foundation will be honored during the Theatre Communications Group April 23 gala at Espace.

The 6 PM event will include performances of the new musicals Giant (to debut at the Public Theater this fall), Hands On A Hardbody (premiering at La Jolla April 27) and the new Bill T. Jones musical Super Fly.

The occasion also marks TCG's 50th anniversary. Gala co-chairs are Ralph Bryan and Heather Randall, with honorary co-chairs including Angela Basset, Courtney B. Vance and Louise Kerz Hirschfeld.

"Not only will we be celebrating all that TCG has accomplished over the last 50 years, we are thrilled to be honoring a group of people who have made a notable difference in the world of American theatre. They have shared their passion for the theatre with TCG and our members, and we are delighted to be sharing the evening with them," said TCG executive director Teresa Eyring in a statement.
