Robert Woodruff directs the New York premiere of the work, which is scheduled to officially open Dec. 11 for a run through Dec. 28. Stephanie Roth Haberle (seen at TFANA opposite Mark Rylance in The Two Gentleman of Verona) leads a cast that also includes Will Rogers, Alfredo Narciso, Annika Boras and Joan Macintosh.

Chair "explores theatricality in an austere and concentrated way without embellishment or decoration," according to a press announcement. "Bond envisions a haunting Orwellian world in which security is more important than freedom. Haberle plays Alice whose single kindly gesture of bringing a chair to a soldier waiting for a bus leads to the unimaginable."

The design team features David Zinn (sets and costumes), Mark Barton (lighting) and Michael Attias (sound and composition).

The work reteams playwright Bond (Saved, Early Morning) with director Woodruff (Buried Child, True West), who previously collaborated on Olly's Prison at American Repertory Theater in 2005.

The company next presents two productions of Shakespeare: Arin Arbus' staging of Othello (Feb. 14-March 7, 2009) and David Esbjornson's staging of Hamlet (March 14-April 19, 2009) starring Christian Camargo (All My Sons).
