Jeff Murray, co-artistic director (with Nicolette Chaffey) of Theatre Theater, which has been producing original works for 18 years, announced that he has invited one of his resident companies, The Non Prophet Hatching Co. (NPHC), to reopen one of its recent shows, Terminal, for a 12-performance run through Dec. 19.

Terminal was conceived and produced 30 years ago by the Open Theatre in New York, which took its inspiration from the famed Living Theatre company. NPHC mounted Terminal last summer but, according to Murray, the show "did not reach the widest variety of critics and audience. Neither the Times nor many of the smaller important papers saw or reviewed this work. It was really bad luck. The young company, whose ensemble work dates back three years, spent a long exhaustive rehearsal period recreating this piece...Their ensemble work and power of the original text I found to be very affecting. To that end I have asked NPHC to remount Terminal for a limited run...and I hope the show will be reviewed as one of the "overlooked" shows of the 1999 season."

Theatre Theater has also found the third producing partner it has been searching for, said Murray. Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) will now be in residence at Theatre Theater, with office space, an ongoing production deal and a home for its current workshops. EST members will also enjoy special benefits in its alliance with TT including rehearsal, teaching and co-production opportunities.

Theatre Theater is located at 6425 Hollywood Blvd. For further information call (323) 871-0210 or e-mail [email protected]
