International theatre company TerryandTheCuz will stage the New York premiere of their latest work, Thicker Than Water, a satirical examination of the “American Dream” as perceived through the lens of Hollywood, May 18–20 at Joe’s Pub.

Douglas Lim and Gavin Yap will make their New York debuts in the piece about two Malaysian filmmakers tasked with delivering an “all American” screenplay, armed only with what they’ve perceived about American culture from film and television.

Thicker Than Water is written by Mark Leonard Winter and Chris Ryan. Additional casting will be announced.

The immersive production was developed at The Bee Publika in Kuala Lumpur last fall. The Joe’s Pub engagement marks the world premiere of the latest incarnation of Thicker Than Water.

Thicker Than Water will have sound design by Michael Toisuta, music by David Franzke, and costume design by Heather Stanley.

Founded by Govin Ruben and Terence Fernandez in 2004, TerryandTheCuz is currently touring SK!N, their acclaimed performance piece based on true stories of human trafficking. Upcoming projects include a contemporary Malaysian adaptation of Hamlet.
