Executive director of the League, Charlotte St. Martin, commented, "We are delighted that Thomas Ferrugia has become a part of our organization. His experience and knowledge of the workings of government will help us to develop and maintain an environment at all governmental levels that will be essential in representing and furthering our industry's goals." Ferrugia, who previously served as a legislative attorney with the Division of Governmental Affairs at the New York City Council, will serve as the League's liaison with government relations agencies – overseeing all federal, New York State and New York City government activities, as well as monitoring legislative, regulatory and administrative issues.
In his capacity with the Division of Governmental Affairs at the New York City Council, Ferrugia worked directly with issues affecting the Broadway community, including street vendor legislation, pedicab licensing and the unauthorized recording of live performances.
