News Thomas Short Confirmed as IATSE Official Who Spoke at Sept. 27 Meeting Between SAG/AFTRA and JPC It may never be acknowledged beyond these pages, but Playbill On-Line has now confirmed that Thomas Short, international president of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) was definitely at the SAG/AFTRA negotiating table with commercial advertisers on Sept. 27. Short is also believed to be the union official who spoke so forcefully at that meeting on the actors' behalf.

It may never be acknowledged beyond these pages, but Playbill On-Line has now confirmed that Thomas Short, international president of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) was definitely at the SAG/AFTRA negotiating table with commercial advertisers on Sept. 27. Short is also believed to be the union official who spoke so forcefully at that meeting on the actors' behalf. While a photograph places Short at the meeting, a spokesman for IATSE's chief executive said no comment or confirmation was forthcoming regarding Short's involvement with the SAG/AFTRA talks.

"He (Short) would certainly not comment on another union's labor negotiations," the IATSE spokesperson said.
