It may never be acknowledged beyond these pages, but Playbill On-Line has now confirmed that Thomas Short, international president of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) was definitely at the SAG/AFTRA negotiating table with commercial advertisers on Sept. 27. Short is also believed to be the union official who spoke so forcefully at that meeting on the actors' behalf. While a photograph places Short at the meeting, a spokesman for IATSE's chief executive said no comment or confirmation was forthcoming regarding Short's involvement with the SAG/AFTRA talks.
"He (Short) would certainly not comment on another union's labor negotiations," the IATSE spokesperson said.
