News   Three By Three In Rep World Premieres to Play Trinity Rep; Casting Announced
The Trinity Repertory Company will stage world-premiere plays by Curt Columbus, George Brant and Deborah Salem Smith in repertory beginning Feb. 16.

The Providence, RI, theatre company has developed the works over several years with its resident acting company. The plays reflect the work of local playwrights, including Trinity Rep artistic director Columbus.

Billed as Three by Three in Rep, performances will continue through May. The cast will include Phyllis Kay, Barbara Meek, Richard Donelly, Jaime Rosenstein, Tyler Lansing Weaks, Angela Brazil, Timothy Crowe, Janice Duclos, Mauro Hantman, Anne Scurria and Leah Anderson.

Columbus' Sparrow Grass, running Feb. 16-May 13, will be directed by Brian McEleney. It is described as a "bold new play inspired by Racine's Phèdre, the classic tragedy is brought into focus within our current time. A woman’s dark and misdirected passion threatens to destroy a family from within."

The Mourners' Bench, directed by Michael Perlman, will be staged March 7-May 24. Brant's play is billed as "a quietly intriguing interwoven tale of a moment of terrible loss that reaches beyond time. Testing the limits of fate and redemption, these very human characters struggle to overcome their shared dark history."

In Smith's Love Alone, directed by Tyler Dobrowsky and Smith, "after a routine medical procedure goes tragically wrong, the lives of both the patient’s family and the doctor charged with her care are transformed. Ultimately, the play is a lovingly drawn portrait of how we grieve and how we heal." It will run Feb. 28-May 27. Three by Three in Rep will have set designs by Michael McGarty, costume designs by William Lane, lighting design by Dan Scully, and sound design by Peter Sasha Hurowitz.
