Classic Arts Features Three Dance Premieres Part of Ailey II New York Season April 15-26 The young dancers of Ailey II will introduce premieres by George Faison, Troy Powell and Sidra Bell during the group's two-week stint at the Citigroup Theater, running April 15-26.


Led by Sylvia Waters, who is celebrating her 40th anniversary with Ailey, the 12 dancers of Ailey II are set to take the stage for 13 performances, including the New York premiere of Tony Award winner George Faison's Movin' On.

The company will be performing two programs: "new works" choreographed by George Faison, Troy Powell, Sidra Bell & Jessica Lang and "repertory favorites" with choreography by Faison, Powell, Ailey Alumnus Christopher Huggins, and Ailey II dancer Chang Yong Sung. Movin' On will be presented at all performances.

Featured pieces include Valse (Bell), Splendid Isolation II (Lang), Hope (The Final Rise) (Powell), When Dawn Comes (Sung), The External Knot (Powell) and When Dawn Comes... (Huggins)

Ailey II's 2009 New York Season runs April 15-26 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater (405 West 55th Street at 9th Avenue). Tickets to all performances are priced at $45.
