MSG Varsity, a Cablevision channel devoted to youth sports programming, is behind the series that profiles seven tri-state area high school girls as they audition to be a part of the tenth annual summer intensive. The training program is frequently a foot in the door for dancers to ultimately become Radio City Rockettes. Since its creation, 47 young women have landed a place in the kickline.
"The Rockette Summer Intensive" will offer behind-the-scenes footage and interviews, as well as a look into the world of the Rockettes with Radio City Christmas Spectacular director-choreographer Linda Haberman; Rockettes director and choreographer Eileen Grace; Rockette dance captain Karen Keeler; Rockette Operations general manager Richard Claffey; and Radio City Christmas Spectacular touring VP Jeff Capitola.
According to producers, "Throughout this three-part series, Rockette hopefuls will share their energy and emotions beginning with their physical preparations for such a unique opportunity, to the moment they learn the results of the audition, to their extraordinary experience of training alongside the iconic Radio City Rockettes."
"The Rockette Summer Intensive is a pivotal program for serious dancers who want to gain the training and technique of the Rockettes' precision dance style," Grace said in a statement. "Our dance education programs are invaluable for dancers and one of the best training tools for these talented Rockette hopefuls who strive to become part of the legendary line."
