Charles Randolph-Wright, who staged Beaty's Emergence-SEE! at the Geffen Theatre, directs the 90-minute production that will run through Feb. 21. Through the Night, according to press notes, tells "the story of six interconnected African-American males ranging from ten to sixty—one per decade – as they and the people who love and support them venture through the night of events that changes these characters’ lives forever."

Beaty earned a 2007 Obie for his Off-Broadway work in Emergence-SEE! at the Public Theater, and his play Resurrection was presented at Arena Stage during the 2008-2009 season.
