Playbill.com has also learned that the production will officially open April 30. The Booth is the current home of The Seafarer; the latter recently announced it would end its limited engagement March 30.

Written by George Stevens Jr., Thurgood, according to press notes, "is the remarkable and triumphant story of Thurgood Marshall, who rose from a childhood in the backstreets of Baltimore to the Supreme Court of the United States. Along the way, Mr. Marshall overcame many adversities but through them all, remained focused and positive to maintain the great country he wanted to serve. And did."

Thurgood made its premiere in 2006 at the Westport Country Playhouse. That production, directed by Leonard Foglia, starred James Earl Jones as Marshall, who died in 1993. Foglia will also direct the Broadway mounting.

The upcoming Broadway engagement will be produced by Ostar Productions in association with the Westport Country Playhouse.

Laurence Fishburne won Tony, Drama Desk and Theatre World Awards for his performance in Two Trains Running, and he was also seen on Broadway in the revival of The Lion in Winter. The actor is well known for his work in such movies as "The Matrix" trilogy, "Mission: Impossible III," "Assault on Precinct 13," "Miss Evers' Boys," "The Tuskegee Airmen," "The Color Purple," "The Cotton Club" and "Apocalypse Now," among others.

The Booth Theatre is located at 222 West 45th Street. Ticket information will be announced shortly.
