News Tickets for Public Forum Event With Stephen Sondheim and Tony Kushner Go On Sale Dec. 27 The general public can now purchase tickets to the Public Theater's special Jan. 17, 2012, event with Stephen Sondheim and Tony Kushner at the Skirball Center.

The two giants of American previously took the Skirball stage last season to discuss the publication of Sondheim's "Finishing the Hat." The upcoming evening is presented as part of the Public Forum series.

Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, Follies, Sunday in the Park With George) and Kushner (Angels in America, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide…), both Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning theatre makers, will be joined by Rocco Landesman for the latest chat that will focus on Sondheim's second installment of his memoir and lyric anthology, "Look, I Made a Hat," which was published Nov. 22.

Sondheim, who began his Broadway career as a lyricist for West Side Story and Gypsy, made his debut as a composer/lyricist in 1962 with A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Along with collaborators including Leonard Bernstein, Arthur Laurents, James Goldman, George Furth, James Lapine, John Weidman and Harold Prince, Sondheim revolutionized the face of musical theatre with Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Pacific Overtures, Anyone Can Whistle, Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George, Assassins, Into the Woods, Passion and Road Show.

A Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner for Angels in America, Kushner also penned Short Talks on the Universe, A Bright Room Called Day, Slavs!, Hydriotaphia, Homebody/Kabul and the book to the Tony-nominated musical Caroline, or Change. His play The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism With a Key to the Scriptures was seen at the Public Theater last spring. His adaptations include Corneille's The Illusion, S.Y. Ansky's The Dybbuk, Brecht's The Good Person of Sezuan and Mother Courage.
