Tickets are now being sold for the Ahmanson Theatre's production of the Nan Knighton-Frank Wildhorn musical, The Scarlet Pimpernel, which opens May 3 and runs through June 18. The show is directed and choreographed by Robert Longbottom. Adapted from Baroness Orczy's classic tale of romance, intrigue and swashbuckling action, Pimpernel is set in France during the time of the Reign of Terror. The daring Pimpernel -- literature's original super-hero -- rescues innocent victims from the clutches of the Royalists and battles for justice and the cause of the Revolution. Besides a lush score, the show offers swordfights, comedy -- and an amusing love story, if only because the Pimpernel hides his revolutionary escapades from his elegant wife Marguerite, who has a few secrets up her own sleeve.
Ahmanson Theatre is located at 135 N. Grand Ave. For tickets and information call (213) 628-2772.
