Featuring a book by Greg Garcia and Mike O'Malley, Escape to Margaritaville follows Tully, a part-time bartender and singer at the titular island paradise, where a beautiful career-minded tourist in town makes him question his overly relaxed lifestyle.

“Well, going to Broadway is a dream come true, but to be coming to the Marquis is like having a great margarita with a tequila floater. If we are going to turn the island of Manhattan into Margaritaville, Times Square seems the perfect place to drop anchor after our voyage from La Jolla, New Orleans, Houston and Chicago,” said Buffett in a statement. “I am grateful to all the wonderful people at all levels who participated in the hard work of turning a dream into reality. It's going to be a tropical season in New York. Fins Up!!!!”

“We’ve had such a fantastic adventure at La Jolla Playhouse bringing this production—filled with Jimmy Buffett’s iconic music—to theatrical life, with such a terrific team of artists,” added director Ashley. “We’re in the midst of an amazing run here, and I’ve rarely seen such an enthusiastic response to a show. As a now official Parrot Head, I am overjoyed to continue the journey of Escape to Margaritaville across the country—and on to Broadway.”

Paul Alexander Nolan, who last appeared on Broadway in Bright Star, stars in the New York-aimed musical, which features new songs and well-known hits by Jimmy Buffett. Nolan is joined by fellow Broadway alums Alison Luff as Rachel and Lisa Howard as Tammy.

The cast also includes Charlie Pollock as Brick, Don Sparks as J.D., Andre Ward as Jamal, and Rema Webb as Marley, along with ensemble members Matt Allen, Sara Andreas, Katie Banville, Hanz Enyeart, Marjorie Failoni, Samantha Farrow, Keely Hutton, Justin Keats, Mike Millan, Justin Mortelliti, Ian Paget, Sharone Sayegh, Alex Michael Stoll, and Jena VanElslander as well as three UC San Diego MFA students: Andrew Gallop, Volen Iliev, and Mo Rodvanich.

No official word yet on casting for the Broadway engagement.

The creative team also features scenic designer Walt Spangler, Tony-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell, two-time Tony-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley, two-time Tony-winning sound designer Brian Ronan, and Tony nominee Christopher Jahnke as music supervisor.

Producers are Frank Marshall, Mindy Rich, Anita Waxman, and Beth Williams.
