Kinky Boots has a score by Grammy winner Lauper, a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein (Torch Song Trilogy, La Cage aux Folles, Newsies), and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, Legally Blonde, La Cage aux Folles).

The musical recently played an out-of-town try-out at the Bank of America Theatre in Chicago.
Stark Sands (American Idiot, Twelfth Night, Journey's End) is cast as Charlie Price, with Billy Porter (Grease, Angels in America, Smokey Joe’s Café) as Lola.
