Clifford S. Tinder has been appointed international editor of Playbill On-Line's International Cultural Exchange, an online performing arts information service scheduled for launch in 1998 by Playbill Inc., in New York.
Tinder, 41, comes to Playbill from Stagebill Inc., a division of K-III Corp., where he worked for 11 years, most recently as vice president and executive editor, responsible for the editorial and art output of the theatre program company.
Tinder begins at Playbill in late July 1997.
Playbill Inc. publishes the familiar programs for theatres on Broadway, Off-Broadway and throughout the United States. The company also publishes a monthly Playbill arts magazine and launched Playbill On-Line, the online theatre information service, in 1994.
In his new position at Playbill, Tinder also will function as publisher of a soon-to-be-created Classic Arts Division of the 113-year-old company, which will focus on creating programs for opera, dance and classical music. Tinder holds undergraduate degrees in political science and journalism from Indiana University. After college, he worked as media director of Sherwood Advertising in New York. He has written features and reviews for magazines including Rolling Stone, Musician, Downbeat, Coda, Bridal Guide Magazine, and Sesame Street Parents magazine. Tinder was born in La Paz, Bolivia and now lives in Sea Cliff, Long Island with his wife and daughter.
