Come September, Titanic will sail on Sundays once again. The Tony winning musical eliminated Sunday performances for the summer months, adding a Monday show.
The schedule will switch back this fall. Aug. 31 will be Titanic's last Monday performance. The first Sunday matinee will take place on Sept. 13. (Because of Labor Day weekend, there will be no performance on Sun., Sept. 6.)
Meanwhile, Brian d'Arcy James will stoke his last furnace on Saturday, Aug. 15, when the actor leaves the cast of Titanic. James has been with the musical since it opened on Broadway Apr. 23, 1997.
Taking James' place as stoker Frederick Barrett will be Clarke Thorell, who currently plays Jim Farrell. Christopher Wells will step into the Farrell role. Wells was formerly a swing performer.
Thorell's other credits include The Who's Tommy on Broadway, and L.A. productions of Big River and The Changeling. In other casting news, original cast member Andy Taylor will replace Don Stephenson as 2nd Class passenger Charles Clarke on Aug. 15. Taylor originally played 4th Officer Joseph Boxhall.
