Classic Arts News Tom Brokaw and John Lithgow Join Gala for 150th Anniversary of Philadelphia's Academy of Music The Philadelphia Orchestra has announced two additions to the Academy of Music's 150th anniversary concert on January 27: former NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw will serve as host, and actor John Lithgow will appear as vocalist in a medley titled Theater at the Academy.
The concert also features the Philadelphia Orchestra, led by music director Christoph Eschenbach, performing the General Dance from Daphnis et Chlo_; opera arias and choruses featuring soprano Deborah Voigt, tenor Ben Heppner, and the Philadelphia Singers Chorale; and music from Disney's Fantasia.

Rock icon Rod Stewart will make a special guest appearance singing a selection of popular songs; Peter Nero joins Stewart and the orchestra on piano for one of the song selections. (Additional special guest appearances will be announced at a later date.)
