Producers of Tommy are in the final stages of casting and auditions for the Canadian national production. Rehearsals will occur during May in Toronto and then will move to Winnipeg during the first week of June.
Pete Townshend will be overseeing the reheasals and will attend the June 11,1996 opening night in Winnipeg. Pete Townshend has stated that 80 to 90 percent of the original cast from the Toronto production will be going on the tour.
The Tommy tour will crisscross Canada for the summer and fall of 1996 performing in seven major cities. The remaining six cities will be disclosed in surprise press conferences over the balance of the summer.
There are potential plans in the works to take the Tour into the United States in 1997, and then on an Asian tour in 1997-98.
