News   Tony Administration Committee to Meet in January
The Tony Awards Administration Committee will assemble Thursday, Jan. 8.

This will mark the first Administration Committee meeting of the new season. Committee members will discuss the eligibility of shows that opened on Broadway during the first half of the theatre season, which began May 8, 2003. A second meeting will take place in the spring. The Antoinette Perry "Tony" Award is bestowed annually for distinguished achievement. Details about the 2004 Tony Awards, which will again be broadcast on CBS, are expected shortly.

The League of American Theatres and Producers and the American Theatre Wing, who jointly present the annual Tony Awards, have extended their decades-long relationship.

Their most recent contract for Tony Award Productions (TAP) was due to expire with the 2004 telecast; the contract has now been extended through 2008. TAP is also in discussion with CBS to extend their agreement with the eye network, which also runs through 2004.
