Timbers, a Tony Award nominee for the raucous and imaginative productions of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and Peter and the Starcatcher, is also working on a new musical adaptation of Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost with Bloody Bloody composer Michael Friedman. That production will premiere as part of the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park programming this summer.

In recent months, Timbers also staged a reading of The Last Goodbye, a new rock musical based on Romeo and Juliet utilizing the songs of late musician Jeff Buckley for its score.

Timbers told Playbill.com, "Developing The Last Goodbye – a Romeo and Juliet with the music of Jeff Buckley, I've been so lucky to get to explore the possibilities of combining Shakespeare with contemporary music. This Disney film takes that concept even further and turns it on its head in an ingenious way."

A production schedule has not been announced for the film.

The new film is being written by Amy Talkington ("Brave New Girl"). It will be produced by Offspring Entertainment's Adam Shankman, Jennifer Gibgot, Jon Chu and Matt Smith.
