Directed by Keith Alan Baker and Jacob Janssen, Carrie will run through Aug. 3. The production officially opens July 14. The musical is the closing production in the Studio's SecondStage season.

The staging reflects the new book and score, which were updated for MCC Theater's 2012 Off-Broadway production. The original writing team of Academy Award-winning composer Michael Gore ("Fame," "Terms of Endearment"), Academy Award-winning lyricist Dean Pitchford ("Fame," "Footloose") and "Carrie" film screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen returned to work on Carrie, which now features additional songs and emphasizes the effects of teen bullying and school politics.

Young actress Emily Zickler portrays Carrie in a cast that also features Maria Rizzo (Sue Snell), Rob Mueller (Tommy Ross), Eben Logan (Chris Hargensen), AJ Melendez (Billy Nolan), Maggie Roos (Helen), Jamie Eacker (Miss Gardner), Ben Lurye (Mr. Stephens), Dani Stoller (Norma), Sarah Chapin (Frieda), Lance Hayes (George), David Little (Stokes), Christian Montgomery (Freddy), Taylor Elise Rector (Ensemble) and Sean Patrick Grady (Ensemble).

The musical centers on the tale of a tormented high school teenager, Carrie White, who discovers she has telekinetic powers. The young girl must cope with a fanatically religious mother and her own coming of age. When her friends push her too far on prom night, they find out how destructive bullying can be.
