On October 22, Tony and Golden Globe-nominated actor Matthew Morrison posted to his Instagram that he and his wife, Renee, welcomed their first child, a son named Revel James Makai Morrison.
Renee also posted to her Instagram:
“I’m so excited, and I just want to be the best father I possibly can be,” Morrison told People magazine. “The fact that it’s half me and half the person that I love most in this world … I’m so excited to meet our child and to see what he or she looks like, and to see what features of my beautiful wife that he or she has.”
Morrison made his Broadway debut in Footloose in in 1998, first in the ensemble and then replacing for the role of Chuck Cranston. He was featured in the ensemble of 2000’s The Rocky Horror Show before making his Broadway principal debut as the original Link Larkin in the Tony-winning Hairspray. The actor earned his first Tony nomination for originating the role of Fabrizio opposite Kelli O’Hara in The Light in the Piazza at Lincoln Center Theater. Later that year, he starred in A Naked Girl on the Appian Way before returning to LCT as Joe Cable in the acclaimed revival of South Pacific. He starred as teacher and glee club advisor Will Schuester on Glee from 2009 to 2015—earning two Golden Globe nominations—before returning to Broadway in Finding Neverland. Most recently, he has appeared in guest roles on Younger and Grey’s Anatomy. He is also the co-founder of Sherpapa Supply Co., a special brand of gear for dads.
