News Tony Winner Chita Rivera Will Play Re-Opened Rainbow Room Two-time Tony winner Chita Rivera, who may be heading back to Broadway this spring in Kander and Ebb's The Visit, will play a one-night-only concert at the Rainbow Room in a special Jan. 14, 2015, benefit for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

An Evening with Chita Rivera will begin with a cocktail reception at 7 PM, followed by a three-course dinner. River will recreate many of the signature songs from her theatrical career as part of the concert. She will be accompanied by her longtime trio – Michael Croiter (music director/percussion), Michael Patrick Walker (associate music director/piano), and Jim Donica (bass). A recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom as well as the Kennedy Center Honor (the first Hispanic woman ever chosen to receive this award), Rivera has won two Tony Awards as Best Leading Actress in a Musical and received seven additional Tony nominations. She is well known for her starring roles in the original Broadway productions of West Side Story, Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, The Rink, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Dancer’s Life and the revivals of Nine and The Mystery of Edwin Drood, among others.
