Part of the York's "Musicals in Mufti" series, Plain & Fancy will be presented Oct. 27-29. Huffman will be joined onstage by Nancy Anderson (Hilda Miller), Ward Billeisen, Sara DeLaney, Erick Devine, Rick Hilsabeck, Beth Kirkpatrick, Adam Laird, Jordan Leeds (Dan King), Jack Noseworthy (Peter), Charlotte Rae (Emma), Dan Sharkey (Ezra), and Jim Sorenson. David Glenn Armstrong directs.
In a statement director Armstrong said, "It's a mystery to me why Plain & Fancy hasn’t had a more prolific life; it’s a great musical in the Rodgers & Hammerstein vein, wherein outsiders confront a closed society. It’s a perfect show. Plain & Fancy should be enjoying a major revival, and the York is rectifying a major wrong by presenting its first professional New York production in over half a century."
Plain & Fancy features music by Albert Hague, lyrics by Arnold B. Horwitt and a book by Joseph Stein and Will Glickman.
Cady Huffman received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for her performance in The Producers. She has also appeared on Broadway in The Will Rogers Follies, Steel Pier, Big Deal, La Cage aux Folles and Dame Edna: The Royal Tour. Huffman has been seen on screen in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “One Life to Live,” “Sunday on the Rocks,” “Hero” and “Space Marines” and will soon be seen in “Itty Bitty Titty Committee” and “Romance & Cigarettes.”
