"Hugh Jackman is in a class by himself as a multi-talented entertainer with a global following," said festival co-directors Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri in an earlier statement. "There is nothing he can't do and he proves this time and time again with every project he's involved in. We're honored to recognize his brilliant career at the Zurich Film Festival."

In addition to receiving the award, Jackman presents his latest film, "Prisoners" — directed by Denis Villeneuve and co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal — which has been selected to screen in the Gala Premieres section of the Festival.

Jackman, Oscar-nominated for his performance as Jean Valjean in "Les Miz," received a Special Tony Award in 2012 and took home the Tony in 2004 for his performance in The Boy From Oz. He has also been seen on Broadway in A Steady Rain and his solo show Back on Broadway.

As previously reported, the actor also received the Donostia Award for lifetime achievement Sept. 27 at the 61st edition of the San Sebastian Festival in Spain.
