News Tony Winner Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! Is London-Bound Producing team Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley, in conjunction with William Collier, are taking the 2008 Tony Award winner for Best Special Theatrical Event, Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! to London, they announced June 11.

The solo show that traces the history of ventriloquism through the personal story of American ventriloquist Johnson — who also performs a multitude of characters —will play a limited run, June 25-Sept. 28, at the Arts Theatre London.

"The show combines the undeniable and charismatic talent of ventriloquist Jay Johnson with an array of puppets — ranging from a 1970s child TV star to a talking tennis ball — and expert comic timing to create over 90 minutes of pure theatrical enjoyment," according to the announcement.

Johnson (widely known for playing Chuck and "Bob" on TV's "Soap") has been performing since the age of 11, "and has used his unique talent to overcome acute dyslexia and create a niche for himself within the world of entertainment and theatre."

"Bonnie and I are thrilled to be working with Jay again," stated Lane. "His talent is immeasurable and we are very excited to be able to introduce him to another of the world's greatest theatre enclaves." Lane is the president and CEO of Stellar Productions Int'l., Inc., and Stewart F. Lane Productions, Inc. based in New York City. He is a four- time Tony Award winner, as producer for Jay Johnson: The Two and Only!, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Will Rogers Follies and La Cage Aux Folles and is a nine time Tony Award nominee. He is also the recipient of three Drama Desk Awards, a Drama Critics Circle Award and Outer Circle Critics Award. His current Broadway productions include Legally Blonde, The 39 Steps and Sunday in the Park with George.

Comley is the vice president of Stellar Productions Int’l, Inc. and is a producer, writer and performer. Comley is a Tony Award Winner as a producer for Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! and has received several Tony Award nominations.

After an Off-Broadway run and regional engagements, Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! opened at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre Sept. 28, 2006, and closed Nov. 26.

The acclaimed solo show that earned solid reviews and a Tony Award for Special Theatrical Event in the 2006-07 Broadway season.

The Two and Only! was conceived by Jay Johnson, Murphy Cross and Paul Kreppel and directed by Murphy Cross & Paul Kreppel.
