News Tony Winner Lillias White To Be Honored at Bistro Awards Tonight The Bistro Awards, cabaret's oldest award, will celebrate its 30th year by honoring Tony Award winner Lillias White (The Life, Chicago) and jazz headliner Carol Fredette March 4. White and Fredette are among 11 winners recognized for outstanding achievement in New York cabaret, jazz and comedy.

The ceremony, which will take place at Gotham Comedy Club, is hosted by stage, opera, television and film actor Jason Graae, a four-time Bistro winner, and will feature performances by the award winners, both past and present.

Among the returning winners are Dee Dee Bridgewater and Marilyn Maye; as well as Broadway actors Rita Gardner, Karen Mason, Lee Roy Reams, Darius de Haas and Mary Testa; actor-comedian John Fugelsang; and cabaret stars Aaron Lee Battle and Jeff Harnar.

White, who has won Tony, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Obie, and AUDELCO awards for her theatre performances, and an Emmy for her work in television, is being recognized with an Outstanding Major Engagement Bistro Award for her shows at 54 Below. Carol Fredette will receive a Bistro for Ongoing Jazz Artistry.

The Bistro Awards are produced by Sherry Eaker, the former long-time editor-in-chief of "Back Stage" whose writer Bob Harrington established the Bistro Award in 1985 in his "Bistro Bits" column.
