News Tony Winner Performs An Evening with Jason Robert Brown and the Caucasian Rhythm Kings, Jan. 31 While the Laguna Playhouse presents the California premiere of the musical The Last Five Years, the company will also offer An Evening with Jason Robert Brown and the Caucasian Rhythm Kings, Jan. 31.

The special one-night only concert event with the Tony Award-winning composer will play at 10 PM at the southern California venue. Tickets are available by calling (949) 497-ARTS.

Described as a "freewheeling, wide-ranging journey through Brown's acclaimed songs," the evening will feature music from Brown's musicals Parade, Songs for a New World and The Last Five Years. The show will also include pieces written for the cabaret and recording artists Brown has worked with over the years as well as new selections interspersed with anecdotes by the songwriter about his career in and out of the musical theater.

Joining Brown will be Randy Landau on bass and Gary Sieger on guitar. Several surprise guests are expected to also grace the Laguna Playhouse stage offering their versions of favorite Brown songs.

Composer Brown won the Tony Award for his score to Parade. Other credits include Urban Cowboy, Songs for a New World and incidental music for Fuddy Meers, Kimberly Akimbo and The Waverly Gallery.
