News Tony-Winning Designer Long to Receive Goodspeed Award Five-time Tony Award-winning costume designer William Ivey Long will be presented with The Goodspeed Award for Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theatre at Goodspeed's gala evening May 2 in Connecticut.

Long, represented on Broadway this season with the current revival of Pal Joey and the forthcoming 9 to 5: The Musical, will receive the award in "recognition of his extraordinary career."

Previous recipients of the Goodspeed Award include Julie Andrews, Ira Gershwin, Jerry Herman, Stephen Schwartz, Tommy Tune, Susan Stroman and Gerald Schoenfeld.

The upcoming evening, which will be held at Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam, CT, will include a cocktail hour, dinner, a live auction and entertainment by a mix of Broadway performers. Long's costume designs will also be on display.

Proceeds from the gala will support Goodspeed Musicals' Education Programs.

William Ivey Long has designed 58 Broadway productions. He won Tonys for his designs for Grey Gardens, Hairspray, The Producers, Crazy for You and the original production of Nine.
