Tony nominee Christopher Ashley (Xanadu, Leap of Faith) directed the original Broadway production of the musical that has Tony Award-winning book and lyrics by DiPietro (Nice Work If You Can Get It; I Love You, You're Perfect...) and Tony-winning music and lyrics by Bryan of Bon Jovi fame. The Broadway production ended its run Aug. 5, 2012, after 1,166 regular performances at the Shubert Theatre.

The London production of Memphis will officially open Oct. 23, according to the official website for the production. The Shaftesbury Theatre box office for Memphis opens at 10 AM March 13.

The musical recouped its entire $12 million investment and is now on its second U.S. national tour. A London run had been anticipated. It is expected that the work of the original creative team will be represented; however, an official announcement has not been made.

Knight, who stars in the West End production of The Bodyguard will play Felicia. The role was originated on Broadway by Montego Glover, who was Tony-nominated for her work.

Memphis won four 2010 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score (Bryan and DiPietro), Best Book (DiPietro) and Best Orchestrations (Bryan and Daryl Waters).

Knight is currently starring at the West End's Adelphi Theatre in The Bodyguard through May 31. She released her debut album in 1995, which has sold over a million albums in the U.K., scoring several top 10’s and four gold certified albums. Her latest critically acclaimed album "Soul UK" was a top 15 charting album upon its release in July 2011.
