Tootsie's Original Broadway Cast Recording is now available on digital and streaming outlets from Decca Broadway, with a physical release planned for later this summer. The album preserves David Yazbek's Tony-nominated score and the performances of the original Broadway cast, led by Tony nominee Santino Fontana as Michael Dorsey.

The release, along with Oklahoma!'s upcoming revival cast album, marks the relaunch of theatrical record label Decca Broadway, which had been dormant since 2015.

Adapted from the 1982 film, Tootsie tells the story of a struggling actor who lands a job by adopting a female persona. Fontana is joined in the cast by Lilli Cooper as Julie Nichols, Sarah Stiles as Sandy Lester, John Behlmann as Max Von Horn, Andy Grotelueschen as Jeff Slater, Julie Halston as Rita Marshall, Michael McGrath as Stan Fields, and Reg Rogers as Ron Carlisle.

The production, currently playing Broadway's Marquis Theatre, is nominated for 11 2019 Tony Awards: Best Actor in a Musical (Fontana), Featured Actor in a Musical (Grotelueschen), Featured Actress in a Musical (Cooper and Stiles), Book of a Musical (Robert Horn), Original Score (Yazbek), Orchestrations (Simon Hale), Direction of a Musical (Scott Ellis), Costume Design of a Musical (William Ivey Long), Choreography (Denis Jones), and Best Musical.

Andrew Grody and Dean Sharenow are the production's musical supervisors. The album is produced by Sharenow and Yazbek.
