Block replaces the previously announced Shoshana Bean — Broadway's new Elphaba — who had to withdraw from the evening saluting the music of Scott Alan. As previously announced, composer-lyricist Alan will be part of the evening, which is to feature songs from his musicals Piece and Detour. Aida's Schele Williams will direct the one-night-only event, which will also boast performances by Aida's Lisa Brescia, Bare's John Hill, Altar Boyz's Daniel Toress and singer-actress Lauren Thomas. Jesse Vargas is the musical director and arranger; show time is 7 PM.

Stephanie J. Block made her Broadway debut opposite Hugh Jackman in The Boy From Oz at the Imperial Theatre. She was part of the cast of the out of-town tryout of Stephen Schwartz's Wicked, and her numerous regional theatre credits include Funny Girl, Oliver!, James Joyce's The Dead, The Grass Harp, Bells Are Ringing and I Love a Piano. Block was a 2002 L.A. Ovation Award nominee for her performance in Crazy For You.

The Duplex is located in Manhattan at 61 Christopher Street. There is a $20 cover charge; call (212) 255-5438 for reservations. Visit www.scottalan.net for more information.
