News Tracy Shayne Begins Brief Chicago Stint Dec. 13 Tracy Shayne returns to the role of Roxie Hart in the Broadway company of Chicago Dec. 13.

Shayne is filling in for a vacationing Charlotte d'Amboise through early January 2005. The actress made her Broadway debut in the Tony-winning musical A Chorus Line. She also played Christine in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, and she succeeded Judy Kuhn in the role of Cosette in the Broadway company of Les Misérables. Shayne previously played the role of Chicago's Roxie Hart in April 2003 and again in June 2004. Chicago — featuring a score by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb — currently stars Tom Wopat as Billy Flynn, Terra C. MacLeod as Velma Kelly, Anne L. Nathan as Matron Mama Morton, P.J. Benjamin as Amos Hart and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. As previously announced, Ray Bokhour will assume the role of Amos Hart Jan. 10.

Chicago won the Tony for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.

The Ambassador Theatre is located at 215 West 49th Street.
