The official trailer for Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast , which was released November 14, amassed 127.6 million views online worldwide in its first day. That figure tops the previous record of 114 million views that was set by September's Fifty Shades Darker clip, according to Deadline.com.

The industry website said that Facebook was responsible for 29 million of the views.

The trailer for the Disney classic gives viewers a fuller picture of what to expect come the March 17, 2017, release date. In the excerpt, viewers can see the famous scene where Belle (Emma Watson) trades her freedom to save her father (Kevin Kline). The trailer reveals the CGI-animated Beast (Dan Stevens), Lumiere (Ewan McGregor), Cogsworth (Ian McKellen), Chip (Nathan Mack), and Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson).

Bill Condon (Dreamgirls) directs the film with a screenplay by Condon, Evan Spiliotopoulos, and Stephen Chbosky.
