Classic Arts News Transmigration of Souls to Get Radio Broadcast March 1 A New York Philharmonic concert featuring the world-premiere performance of John Adams' On the Transmigration of Souls will be broadcast starting tonight by stations across the country.
The September 19, 2002, concert, which also included Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, can be heard on New York's WQXR 96.3 FM tonight at 9 p.m. The 300 stations that carry the program The New York Philharmonic This Week, syndicated by Chicago's WFMT, will broadcast the concert this week.

The concert, conducted by Lorin Maazel at the beginning of his tenure as the Philharmonic's music director, will also be available on the orchestra's web site for the next week.

Adams' work, commissioned as a memorial for the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, won a Pulitzer Prize in 2003; the Philharmonic's recording of the piece won three Grammy Awards last month.
