News Transport Group to Honor Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn; Kerry Butler, Andrew Rannells and Mary Testa to Perform Tony Award-nominated playwright Douglas Carter Beane and composer-lyricist Lewis Flinn, the duo behind the new Broadway musical Lysistrata Jones, will be honored during the Transport Group's Dec. 5 Gimme A Break gala.

Set to take place at the Asia Society and Museum, the 6:30 PM evening will bring together a host of Broadway performers who will share their personal "big break" experiences through story and song.

Julie Halston (The Divine Sister, Hairspray, Gypsy) will host the gala concert that promises performances by Tony nominee Kerry Butler (Xanadu, Catch Me If You Can), Jackie Hoffman (The Addams Family, Xanadu, Hairspray), Tony nominee Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon, Jersey Boys), Andrew Samonsky (South Pacific, Queen of the Mist), Alexandra Silber (Master Class, Hello Again) and Tony nominee Mary Testa (Queen of the Mist, On the Town, Xanadu).

The Transport Group presented Beane and Flinn's pop musical Lysistrata Jones last spring at the Gym at Judson Memorial Church, Off-Broadway, prior to its transfer to the Walter Kerr Theatre, where it opens Dec. 14.

Beane is the Tony Award-nominated dramatist of Sister Act, Xanadu and The Little Dog Laughed. Composer-lyricist Flinn contributed to The Divine Sister.

The Transport Group is currently presenting five-time Tony Award nominee Michael John LaChiusa's The Queen of the Mist through Dec. 4. Recent productions also include The Boys in the Band, Hello Again and See Rock City and Other Destinations. Jack Cummings III is artistic director.
