Trent Kowalik, one of the three young actors who received a Tony Award for his performance in the Tony-winning musical Billy Elliot, will appear in a new BMI musical project developed by the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop.

The now 15-year-old actor will play a lead in The Shopping List, a ten-minute musical project by BMI workshop first-year members Jim Merritt (lyrics), Sooyeon Kim (music) and Gary Apple (book).

The mini-musical will be presented with three other new musical theatre works June 7 at 6:15 PM at Shetler Studios and Theatres in Manhattan.

The Tony-honored BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop is considered "the foremost training ground for composers, lyricists and book writers who are actively writing new works for the musical theatre," according to press notes.

Kowalik left the role of 11-year-old Billy in March, after turning 15.
