The historic Royal Court will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2006. Stoppard and Nunn have collaborated before in Arcadia and The Coast of Utopia. Stoppard's other plays include India Ink, Hapgood, The Real Thing, Jumpers and Travesties.

Nunn's dozens of directing credits include Cats, Chess, Starlight Express, Not About Nightingales and Les Miserables. He has been the artistic director of both the Royal Shakespeare Society and the Royal National Theatre.

According to Variety, Stoppard's reasons for choosing the Royal Court have to do with the theatre's architecture. The theatre will divulge its new season on Oct. 11.
