Burnt Part Boys songwriters Chris Miller (music) and Nathan Tysen (lyrics) teamed with Tony Award-nominated playwright Claudia Shear (Dirty Blonde), who authored the book for Tuck Everlasting.
The popular children's book centers on a girl who befriends a unique family who has gained eternal life by drinking from a spring that flows from a tree in the woods.
Nicholaw, who also directed and choreographed Elf and The Drowsy Chaperone in recent seasons, takes on both duties for Tuck Everlasting. Rob Berman was musical director.
The Dec. 9 presentations, which included a staged version of the first act and a reading of the second act, were the culmination of a two-week developmental workshop.
The principal cast for the reading included Carolee Carmello, Michael Park, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Rozi Baker, Fred Applegate, Marylouise Burke, Bob Fitch, Matt Shingledecker, Michael Wartella and Valerie Wright. Carmello, Keenan-Bolger, Burke, Baker and Applegate also took part in an April 2011 presentation of Tuck Everlasting. Broadway Across America's John Gore and Beth Williams, along with producer Barry Brown are behind the project.
