News Tune, Arnaz, Bacall and Yeston Will Pay Tribute to Peter Stone
Food for Thought will present a special gala event Oct. 29 at the Players Club celebrating the career of the late Tony-winning book writer Peter Stone.

Simply titled A Tribute to Peter Stone, the evening will begin at 5:30 PM with cocktails followed by the 6:30 PM entertainment and an 8 PM reception with the actors and other participants. Susan Charlotte and Antony Marsellis will direct the tribute with musical direction by David Lewis. Playbill.com has learned that those scheduled to take part in the one-night-only event include Lucie Arnaz and Tommy Tune, who will offer an excerpt from My One and Only; Lauren Bacall, who will perform a portion of the one-act play Commercial Break; Joan Copeland, who will present an excerpt from Two By Two; Bob Dishy and Judy Graubart, who will present a portion of the one-act My Doctor the Box; and Maury Yeston, who will perform Nine's "The Germans at the Spa" and Death Takes a Holiday's "More and More." Others scheduled to pay tribute to the late Stone include Marshall Brickman, Marian Seldes, Phyllis Newman and Stanley Donen.

Peter Stone wrote the books of the Broadway musicals Kean, Skyscraper, 1776, Two By Two, Sugar, Woman of the Year, My One and Only, The Will Rogers Follies and Titanic. He won Tony Awards for his books for Titanic, Woman of the Year and 1776, and his screenplays include "Who is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe?," "The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three" and "Sweet Charity." Stone died April 26, 2003, at a Manhattan hospital.
