Esai Morales ("NYPD Blue," "La Bamba") and Mariska Hargitay ("Law & Order: Special Victims Unit") join the cast of Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen's The Exonerated through June 29.

The Exonerated is drawn from the stories of a half-dozen former death row inmates who shared a variety of experiences and feelings with playwrights Blank and Jensen. Most described losing their faith in the justice system, while discovering that it was the resources available to a defense team that made the difference between achieving justice or experiencing a miscarriage of it. Bob Balaban (the actor seen in "A Mighty Wind") directs.

Morales began his career on the stage appearing in the Shakespeare in the Park staging of The Tempest, Second Stage Theatre's Short Eyes and on Broadway in the 1992 revival of Salome. He is also known for his movie turns in "La Bamba" as Richie Valens' older brother, "Bloodhounds of Broadway," "My Family" and "Bad Boys."
