News Two Be-Witch-ing Performances: Peters and Williams Nominated for Daytime Emmys Two Into the Woods witches, Bernadette Peters (the original) and Vanessa Williams (the revival) have been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Special.

Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Joy Behar, the co-hosts of ABC’s "The View,” announced the 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Award nominations live March 12. Peters was nominated for her work as Bailey Lewis in the Showtime drama “Bobbie’s Girl,” and Williams was nominated for her performance as Sandra Williams in another Showtime special, “Our America.” Other nominees in the category include Ben Foster and Tom Cavanagh, both for “Bang Bang You’re Dead,” and Gregory Hines for “The Red Sneakers.” Actress-singer Bernadette Peters is currently in rehearsals to play Rose in the much-anticipated revival of Gypsy, which begins previews March 31 at the Shubert Theatre. Peters won Tony Awards for her performances in Song & Dance and Annie Get Your Gun, and she has also starred on Broadway in Mack & Mabel, On the Town, Sunday in the Park with George, The Goodbye Girl and the original production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods. Peters was recently inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame where she sang selections from her newest CD, the Grammy-nominated "Bernadette Peters Loves Rodgers & Hammerstein." Her numerous screen credits include an Emmy-nominated turn on "Ally McBeal," a Golden Globe-winning performance in "Pennies from Heaven" and roles in "The Jerk," "Silent Movie," "Bobbie's Girl," "Pink Cadillac" and "The Last Mile." She will also be seen in the upcoming Michael Douglas film "It Runs in the Family.”

Vanessa Williams received a Tony nomination last season for her work in the Tony-winning revival of Into the Woods. Her other Broadway credits include Kiss of the Spider Woman and the City Center Encores! presentation of St. Louis Woman. On screen, Williams has had feature roles in "Soul Food," "Eraser," "Dance With Me," "Shaft," "Bye Bye Birdie," "The Odyssey" and "The Courage to Love." The actress is currently in development for a new NBC sitcom about a Broadway actress who returns to her hometown to teach drama in the local high school.

The 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be broadcast live from New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on ABC May 16, 8-11 PM ET. Check local listings.
