Tickets for the production, which officially opened at New World Stages June 19 following previews that began June 13, had been on sale through Nov. 17.
The Two-Character Play, directed by Gene David Kirk, also stars Academy Award-nominated actor Brad Dourif ("One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest").
"Producing Tennessee Williams' The Two-Character Play, a play he loved so much, with the talents of Amanda Plummer and Brad Dourif, has been our honor and privilege," said producer Robert Driemeyer in a statement on behalf of the producing team. "However, the time has come for our cast to move on to other commitments, and considering their consummate performances, we just can’t envision another pair in the roles of Felice and Clare. Fortunately, the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is recording the show for their permanent collection. We are thrilled that this landmark production will be preserved, but we encourage all serious theatre-lovers to treat themselves to the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of experiencing Ms. Plummer and Mr. Dourif's astonishing performances live and in person."
"Reality and fantasy are interwoven with terrifying power as two actors on tour-brother and sister-find themselves deserted by their troupe," according to press notes. "Faced by an audience expecting a performance, they enact The Two-Character Play. As they dip in and out of performance they find it difficult to differentiate themselves from their roles and reality from illusion."
The creative team comprises Alice Walkling (scenic design and London costume design), Lara DeBruijn (New York costume design), Phillip Hewitt (sound design and London lighting design), Jake Fine (New York lighting design) and Rick Sordelet (fight choreography). The Two-Character Play is produced by Robert Driemeyer, Morgan Sills, Jim A. Landé, Al Parinello and the Somerled Charitable Foundation, in association with Robert Barry Fleming, Julio Montalvo, Ted Seifman/Jamie deRoy and Jan Warner, with general management by Brierpatch Productions (Laura Janik Cronin and Scott Newsome), casting by wojcik/seay casting (Scott Wojcik and Gayle Seay) and marketing by Ron Johnson, Jr.
Performances are Monday at 8 PM, Wednesday at 2 PM and 8 PM, Thursday and Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 2:30 PM and 8 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.
