Actress Carmen Gillespie will be spending a good portion of her summer as Judy Garland. The performer will impersonate the late singer and actress in two tributes, both held in Toronto. The first, "Judy Garland: The MGM Years," is taking place every Wednesday and Thursday, inning on July 22, at Gatsby's Restaurant, 504 Church St. The evening is meant to duplicate promotional tours MGM and Garland would make in support of such films as Babes in Arms and The Wizard of Oz.
Meanwhile, Garland in concert will be the subject matter of a series of performances at the Beach Arts Center, at 1852 Queen St., E., with Gillespie performing many of the standards for which Judy is famous.
