Classic Arts News Two Stiefel Lieutenants Resign From Ballet Pacifica Two former American Ballet Theatre dancers who signed on to help Ethan Stiefel transform California's Ballet Pacifica have resigned from the company, weeks after Stiefel's departure, the Orange County Register reports.
After Stiefel was named Ballet Pacifica's artistic director in 2004, he hired Amanda McKerrow and John Gardner, both former colleagues at ABT, as associate director and ballet mistress, respectively. McKerrow later added the post of interim academy director. Unlike Stiefel, who continued his dance career while leading the company, the two were full-time administrators.

Stiefel resigned last month after the company announced that it would delay its reopening for a year because of lack of funds.

In an email sent to the company, McKerrow and Gardner, who are married, said, "As you know, with Ethan Stiefel's resignation from Ballet Pacifica, the vision we came here to help realize ended."

According to the Register, their departure "is not unexpected."
