News Twyla Tharp and Derek Jacobi Will Receive Honorary Doctorates from Juilliard Tony Award-winning director-choreographer Twyla Tharp and Olivier Award-winning actor Derek Jacobi will receive honorary doctoral degrees at the Juilliard School's 106th commencement ceremony in May.

Tharp (Movin' Out, The Times They Are A Changing, Come Fly Away) and Jacobi (King Lear, "Gladiator," "Gosford Park") will receive honorary doctor of fine arts degrees.

Also honored will be opera composer John Adams (Nixon in China) and jazz icon Herbie Hancock, both of whom will receive honorary doctor of music degrees.

Adams will also deliver the May 20 commencement address at 11 AM in Alice Tully Hall where Juilliard will present 273 degrees to its actors, dancers, playwrights, and jazz, opera and classical instrumental musicians.
